Legendary Boston Celtics Commentator Mike Gorman Lists City Penthouse Steps From TD Garden for $1.5 Million

A piece of New England sports history has officially hit the market, with former Boston Celtics commentator Mike Gorman listing his penthouse at the intersection of the city’s North End and West End neighborhoods for $1.495 million.

Boasting views of TD Garden—the iconic home venue to the 18-time NBA championship-winning team—the sun-filled, two-bedroom, two-bathroom residence is right at home within the city’s skyline.

Gorman was the voice of the basketball team for 43 years before retiring in 2024, and even credits the beautiful condo and the easy commute it offered for contributing to the longevity of his career.

“It’s a really great location. I can’t say enough about the building and the people,” he said in a video tour of the home shared on Instagram. “I would say it added on 10 years to my career.”

The retired announcer snapped up the 1,244-square-foot dwelling in 2017, purchasing it from the building’s developer the year it was built.

George Sarkis of the Sarkis Team at Douglas Elliman notes the unit is a rare find these days.

“You cannot buy that same size unit with the views it has in a full-service building pretty much anywhere in Boston,” Sarkis told Boston.com.

While the penthouse was a perfect location for Gorman in the later years of his legendary career, he’s ready for a new chapter.

“He has a place somewhere else, more like a vacation place, and he just wants to travel and be closer to his family,” Sarkis confirmed.

“He has grandchildren now,” he continued. “He’ll always have a piece of Boston, but he just doesn’t need this place.”

Featuring an expansive open-concept living and dining space, the oversized windows and light-colored fixtures throughout the home create a light and airy atmosphere.

The custom kitchen is equipped with premium Bosch and Gaggenau appliances, even touting a wine refrigerator and a breakfast bar—prime for taking an extra moment to enjoy a nutritious morning meal, especially if your commute is just a walk around the corner.

Gorman’s former pad isn’t the only Boston penthouse on the market with a notable seller.

Michael Dell, the chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, is looking to offload his barely-used 59th floor home in the Millennium Tower. The sky-high abode is up for auction now, with bidding currently open online through Oct. 29.

The reserve for auction is $6.5 million, a 41% drop from the original purchase price of $10.9 million.

“Someone’s likely to get a hell of a home, with a hell of a view, for a hell of a price,” said Misha Haghani, CEO and founder of Paramount Realty USA, the brokerage handling the auction.
